While that benefits from a completely passive design for operation in environments where noise must be kept to a minimum, noise and energy-saving features include IEEE 802.3az EEE, inactive link detection, and automatic power adjustment that work intelligently. About the latter features, the GS1100 series dynamically adjusts its power relating to conditions such as traffic, active links and cable lengths so that both performance and cost efficiency are maintained. The GS1100-8HP with an external power adapter, therefore, creates an environment noiseless without any intrusive fans.
